DINZ conference - 'The Business of Sustainable Design'
09 Jan 2008
In October of 2007 the Designers Institute of New Zealand (DINZ) held a National Conference Day to discuss ‘The Business of Sustainable Design’.
The conference opened with a series of talks delivered by entrants from the most recent BeST Design Awards. After which leading sustainable design practitioners discussed sustainable strategies within the categories of spatial, product and graphic design.
Mark Pennington, Designer, and Jake McLaren, Environmental Manager, from Formway reflected on views expressed at the Clinton Global Initiative forum. Profitability is an essential component of sustainability otherwise it will not reach the market. Footage of Al Gore debating global issues while sitting on a Life chair introduced a detailed case study of that product and the Met Adapt table as examples of good design that “delivers more with less, enables human well-being, and creates compelling sustainable value.” ProDesign, Issue 92, Dec – Jan 2008
